Scottish Mountain Bike Awards 2019

21 Nov 2019

After the recent news that we had been shortlisted for a Scottish MTB award, we headed off to Innerleithen for a day at the Innovation summit and the awards night that evening.

There was a great turnout at the Scottish MTB innovation summit with some really interesting speakers. We were shocked to see some of the results from the study of rider hand-arm vibration exposure, carried out by Dr Lewis Kirkwood (Edinburgh Napier University). Lewis won the award for best student project later that evening at the award ceremony. Top job Lewis!

The annual Scottish Mountain Bike Awards (ScottishMTBAwards), was a sell-out event! They were organised by The Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland and Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland. The hosts were Lee Craigie, director of The Adventure Syndicate and Active Nation Commissioner and Katy Winton, Trek Factory Racing Enduro World Series rider. After a great meal and some beer supplied by Tempest Brewery the awards night kicked off in earnest.

First up was the award for Product Innovation of the year, the one we were shortlisted for. Gulp, straight in at the deep end!

Serious competition with truly innovative products from Findra, Intra Drive and Sender Ramps. Lee mentioned that she thought the #VeloeyeVX was a really cool product and we waited to hear her say the winner. We couldn’t believe it when she said #Veloeye! Looking around the room to see if we had heard correctly, must have had us looking like rabbits in headlights.

The rest of the evening went by in a bit of a blur with people saying congratulations and shaking hands.

The standard of the winners of the other awards was just exceptional with a stand out star, Aneela McKenna from # GoWhereScotland taking four awards!

All in a great night, awesome atmosphere with a fantastic bunch of people. Keep an eye out on Facebook for a list of all of the award winners from the evening.

We can’t thank everyone enough at the #MTBCoS, #DMBinS and #ScottishEnterprise for all of the support over the years. If you have any thoughts for products in the #Mountainbike sector make sure you speak to these guys.
